Privacy Policy for Deckster
Last updated: 22 August 2026
Deckster does not collect, transmit or store any personal data. There is no account to create, no server to send anything to, and no analytics or advertising of any kind.
This policy covers the Deckster Android app and the Deckster question builder website.
The app
Deckster is an offline game. It never connects to the internet. Games run over a Wi-Fi hotspot created by one of the players' phones, and all game traffic stays on that local network between the phones in the room.
What is stored on your device
- Your display name and chosen animal. Saved on your own phone so you do not retype them each game. They are sent to the other phones in your room while you play, so people can see who is who. They are never sent anywhere else.
- Nothing about a game is kept. Scores, answers and rankings exist only while the round is running and are gone when it ends.
Uninstalling the app removes everything it has stored. There is no copy anywhere else.
Your own questions
If you load a question file, the app reads it from the location you choose, uses it for that one round, and then discards it. The file is not copied, uploaded or retained. The app only ever opens a file you have picked yourself.
Permissions
The app requests network and Wi-Fi permissions so it can create and find rooms on a local hotspot, and storage access so you can pick a question file. These are used only for those purposes. The app has no access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos.
The question builder website
The builder runs entirely in your browser. The questions you write are never sent to a server — they exist in the page while you work, and the file you download is produced by your own browser. Nothing is saved when you close the tab.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which, like any web host, records standard server request logs such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Those logs are handled by Vercel under its own privacy policy. We do not use them, and we do not add any analytics, cookies or tracking of our own.
Children
Deckster is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Third parties
Deckster contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking software. The bundled trivia questions come from the Open Trivia Database and are included inside the app at build time; the app does not contact that service, or any other, while you use it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
